To reduce the nation’s reliance on legacy oil-based electricity generation, the United Arab Emirates has been investing in nuclear power. With the ground-breaking ceremony for this nuclear facility held in March 2011 and construction completed in May 2018, the power plant is expected to deliver up to a quarter of the UAE’s electricity needs.
