FFT selected to protect critical pipeline infrastructure

FFT has been selected to monitor a health of a pipeline located at 4,500 meters above sea level (masl) and provide early detection and warning of any potential rupture.

Critical to the mining operation, the 88km carbon steel pipe will carry river water to the Papujune copper processing plant and nearby 60 million m3 Vizcachas dam.

Located in the Moquegua region in southern Peru, the Quellaveco project has been developed by Anglo American in partnership with the Mitsubishi Corporation.

FFT’s global expertise in pipeline monitoring and previous experience working with Anglo American were key factors in securing the challenging project.

Now in commercial operation, the mine is expected to deliver 300,000 MT of copper per year over the next 10 years – with an expected lifespan of 36 years.

Protecting critical pipeline infrastructure in Turkey

FFT’s Aura Platform is currently being installed to protect critical pipeline infrastructure in Turkey. This is the third and final phase of a contract which will result in FFT’s perimeter intrusion detection technology installed on a total of six high security sites.

Recognised for delivering fibre optic-based solutions second to none, FFT’s technology was selected to replace a copper-based intrusion detection system which was plagued with performance issues due to the extreme weather conditions. False alarms also resulted in a loss of confidence and prompted the pipeline operator to switch to FFT’s solution – which is also being used to protect Turkey’s Istanbul Airport.

With exceptional event classification accuracy – unmatched by any other commercial system – and a proven track record, FFT’s fibre optic PIDS remain the solution of choice for protecting critical infrastructure in the most challenging environments.

FFT Aura Ai selected to protect additional European oil facilities

With FFT’s perimeter intrusion detection technology already installed at a number of its facilities, a European oil company is capitalising on the long range capabilities of the Aura Ai platform to not only protect the main refinery of a new site, but also outlying water plants using a single controller.

Configured to provide cut resilience and redundancy, FFT Aura Ai-2 accurately detects and locates climbing, cutting or lifting of perimeter fences to within +/- 2 m over distances of up to 80 km – with the lowest nuisance alarm rate.

With no electronics or power in the field and immune to EMI, RFI & lightning, Aura Ai-2 is intrinsically safe, making it the ideal solution for the global energy sector.

FFT selected to protect converter stations for offshore wind farm

FFT’s market leading perimeter intrusion detection technology will be installed to protect the onshore power converter stations of what will become the world’s largest offshore wind farm.

Dogger Bank Wind Farm is being developed in three phases – Dogger Bank A, B and C – located between 130km and 190km from the North East coast of England at their nearest points.

FFT Secure Point will initially be installed on the perimeter fence and gates of Dogger Bank A, with a purchase order for Dogger Bank B expected to follow.

Each phase will have an installed generation capacity of 1.2GW. Combined, they will have an installed capacity of 3.6GW and will be capable of powering up to 6 million homes.

FFT appoints new APAC Sales Manager

We are pleased to announce that Florent Houssais has been appointed FFT’s new Asia Pacific Sales Manager.

For the past 16 years, Flo has held sales and business development positions for several high-end global security detection companies including Morpho and Smiths Detection.

Prior to joining FFT, Flo was General Manager for Rapiscan Systems for four years. Flo’s breadth of experience in the security world and understanding of the APAC market will prove invaluable as we actively grow our client base in the region.

FFT customers upgrade to latest generation technology

When long term customers upgrade to the most advanced version of our highly trusted intrusion detection technology, it demonstrates their confidence in FFT’s superior solutions and support capabilities.

Orders have recently been received from energy sector customers located in Europe and Australasia who have elected to upgrade to the Aura Ai platform from FFT Secure Fence.

With close to 500 FFT Secure Fence systems deployed in the last decade, our customers recognise the benefits and value that come with migrating to Aura Ai – with its unrivalled detection sensitivity, location accuracy and lowest nuisance alarm rate on the market.

With a range of solution upgrade packages available, FFT is on hand to support customers as they look to mitigate heightened security risks to their critical assets and infrastructure.

CASE STUDY | DETENTION FACILITY | AUSTRALIA

A youth detention centre in Northern Australia required a perimeter intrusion detection solution that could reliably operate in challenging environmental conditions while accurately detecting attempted escapes or incursions over a perforated metal fence. Advanced signal processing and algorithms were required to avoid nuisance alarms caused by the impact of monsoonal rain on the secure rigid metal fence.
