Future Fibre Technologies Appointed to Australian Government's Border Protection Technologies Panel

Future Fibre Technologies (FFT), a global leader in fibre optic sensing and perimeter intrusion detection technologies, has been appointed as a prequalified supplier to the Australian Government's Border Protection Technologies Panel (BPTP), established and administered by the Department of Home Affairs to support Australia’s border security capabilities.
The appointment, effective 1 July 2026, runs for an initial five-year term to 30 June 2031, with an option for a further five-year extension at the Government's discretion.

FFT's Aura Ai-X platform has an extensive track record protecting sovereign borders, military facilities, airports and critical infrastructure around the world. The technology is currently deployed across a critical European border, protecting more than 500 kilometres of national boundary though a combination of fence-mounted and covert buried sensing solutions, where authorities have reported preventing 98% of illegal crossings.

With more than 1,500 systems installed across 70 countries, FFT brings decades of operational experience in securing some of the world's most demanding and mission-critical environments. Unlike traditional surveillance systems, fibre optic sensing provides persistent, covert, all-weather detection over hundreds of kilometres using a single sensor network.

Neville Joyce, acting CEO of FFT, said:

"Appointment to the BPTP reflects the trust that government and defence organisations around the world place in FFT's technology and our ability to secure long, complex and high-consequence environments.
Around the world, governments are increasingly focused on strengthening sovereign resilience and protecting critical infrastructure. Fibre optic sensing technologies such as Aura Ai-X provide persistent, long-range detection capabilities that are uniquely suited to protecting borders, critical communications infrastructure and other nationally significant assets.

We look forward to supporting Australia's border security objectives and working with government agencies and industry partners to deliver world-class sensing capabilities."
