How it works

FFT’s Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) based fibre optic sensing technology offers a powerful and innovative approach for monitoring subsea cables, particularly along the critical section between the Point of Presence (POP), cable landing station and the cable’s first repeater. By monitoring the terrestrial and nearshore segments of a subsea cable, operators can continuously assess cable integrity and rapidly detect early signs of potential damage or stress. This is especially valuable in shallow waters and coastal approaches where subsea cables are most vulnerable to human activities and environmental forces.
