FFT selected to protect critical pipeline infrastructure

FFT has been selected to monitor a health of a pipeline located at 4,500 meters above sea level (masl) and provide early detection and warning of any potential rupture.

Critical to the mining operation, the 88km carbon steel pipe will carry river water to the Papujune copper processing plant and nearby 60 million m3 Vizcachas dam.

Located in the Moquegua region in southern Peru, the Quellaveco project has been developed by Anglo American in partnership with the Mitsubishi Corporation.

FFT’s global expertise in pipeline monitoring and previous experience working with Anglo American were key factors in securing the challenging project.

Now in commercial operation, the mine is expected to deliver 300,000 MT of copper per year over the next 10 years – with an expected lifespan of 36 years.
